A Quiet Bitterness

When God gives one a life of quiet bitterness

Does one swallow it whole and let things be,

Or push back and fight for a life well-lived?

Nothing is ever as simple as a yay or nay

Just as gray covers everything that is between.

To deny one’s dreams of love and grandeur

To let older ones enjoy their more simpler fantasies

Sacrifices are made one way or another

To be selfish or selfless – no difference is there now.
