Links of the day

1. love motels in taiwan are going high class. as high class as these things go anyways. believe me, u don’t wanna get stuck in the cheap ones where the beds don’t have sheets and u can see the stains. *shivers* oh, and don’t use the stairs when u go to these places. stairs are only used by the young professional female physical therapists.

2. science is proving games can make parts of your brain operate more efficiently and/or grow larger. correspondingly, it’s also discovering that size matters. ppl who have above average size in certain brain structures can be predicted to perform better on video games that require good hand-eye coordination and shifting strategies. that sounds like every worthwhile pvp game out there.

3. final round. this weekend in atl. biggest fighting game tourney in the southeast. catch it streaming here. jwong is in attendance.

  • I suck at video games. Especially PvP RTS games. I can’t even beat the computer. After 14 years, I still haven’t found out how to beat the computer on SC.

I like physical therapy. :) Some of those themed rooms are sure interesting. I’m especially fascinated with the horse machines in that one room. I wonder what those could be used for…

justin wong again took first place.

AoR, if you haven’t watched SC pro replays or have friends who were serious about winning, then that’s pretty understandable. OTOH, if u have been studying the game since release, which i highly doubt, that’s kinda sad.

since u aren’t a big gamer, u might find these articles interesting. japanese completely dominate in SF, but koreans rule in tekken. koreans took 1st and 2nd place at final round over the weekend.

  • Yes, I watch the pro replays and frequented cybercafes with my friends when I lived in Taipei. I dreaded playing SC and DOTA. FPS games were OK, I suppose. I couldn’t even figure out to beat campaign without cheating, even after consulting the strategy guide. I suppose it is somewhat sad, but I think it’s much sadder that nerdy Asian and white people feel the need to host “fighting game tournaments”. Why can’t we just fight in real life??? This is what REAL men do. !!!!!! !!!!!!

eh, you might be surprised at who actually puts these tourneys together. yes, there are plenty of asians, but there are also a lot of blacks. whites are underrepresented in the top ranks of fighting game tourneys.
