Is the Ivy League Fair to Asian Americans?

An admission officer’s uncomfortable explanation for why they don’t get in as often as their test scores would predict suggests it’s not.

Are Ivy League institutions discriminating against Asian Americans by limiting how many are admitted? That’s the subject of a debate published this week in the New York Times. Let’s start with the folks who believe that there’s effectively a race-based quota limiting Asian Americans.

Danger Girl Film Adaptation

Danger Girl is an American comic book series created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell.  I’ve been a fan of Campbell’s art. Based on the casting(Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale, and Sofia Vergara), it probably won’t matter too much how the movie goes, just as long as it has the key visual components. A good movie would be a bonus though.

Recent Storm

So I meandered out the door and decided to grab my camera to capture this site.  Soon after started continuous lightning, I scampered inside due to fright.  Hoping my palm tree lasts through the night.

“Bentley announced last week that it had sold a record 396 cars in China in the first four months of 2011, which shatters the previous record–only set last year–by a staggering 66 percent and means that roughly one out of every four Bentleys so far sold this year ended up with a home in the world’s most populous country.” (more…)

Award winning music?

I may be totally off, but looks like a seizure. I welcome any others to educate me on how I am wrong. Apparently the husband of this Asian singer is a German composer, and this “song” won some award.  Maybe I am just getting old, and my taste does not mesh with the new age. I am currently not able to put the Chinese characters in, but roughly sounds like “Tan Te” phonetically. (more…)
