More Quest Crew awesomeness.
glad to see these guys are still blowing it up.
VERY weird trailer (courtesy AAM)
it’s awesome that ppl from kaba and quest are in the movie. not so sure about the plot tho. do all dancers in the future need to be augmented w/ superpowers and inherit the gene for blue eyes? really?
but regardless, this could be a pretty big deal. i mean, sure it might be reminicent of a bboy exploitation film from the 80s, but it’s got nationally recognized asians as a very prominent part of the cast and talent. and they aren’t all doing martial arts! and they aren’t gangsters! and they aren’t geeks/nerds! and they speak english! has hollywood lost it’s freakin mind?
it’s apparently billed as a hip-hop westside story. so i’m wondering… exactly how is the riff/mercutio character gonna get killed? i mean is the bernardo/tybalt character gonna dance him to death? lol.
but i gotta give props to beat freaks too. they really had the upperhand right up until the last show. grats to all the crews on the show.
for those who haven’t seen, here are the last two performances by quest on abdc. for the record, i think the 2nd performance ranks as top 1 or 2 of all performances of this series. vote quest!
hip hop decathlon
just as a note, the member of quest that does the flip from sitting indian-style to standing and the push flip is steve terada. he’s a championship winning extreme martial arts and tricks performer. also, as has been noted many times elsewhere, at least 3 of the other guys including hok, d-trix, and ryan were so you think you can dance contestants. these guys are stacked.
interestingly it’s also not the first time we’ve seen one of the girls from beat freaks. the asian girl was one of gwen stefani’s harajuku pets. good to see her off the leash.
ps – notice after the push flip that yuri (kaba modern) and taeko (fysh n chicks) are going, “WTFUUUUCK!” haha.
